Tom Dolan for Sheriff

This election is very important to Edgar County. It will determine whether we keep doing things the way we’ve always done, or whether we make some needed changes.

In the Sheriff’s Debate, my opponent said, “It is what it is.” His entire plan was: “We’ve got to make it work.” This is not acceptable to me. I will be a working Sheriff, and this is my plan:

* I’ll increase patrol and improve 911 response times, by expanding the part-time Deputy roster, and being a patrolling Sheriff myself.

* I’ll bring back the Edgar County Drug Task Force and get a full time Detective working on the burglaries.

* I’ll increase our presence in the schools, to help keep them safe, and educate them about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

* I’ll work closely with the County Board to cut the massive overtime, and stay on a reasonable budget.

* I’ll institute a regular vehicle maintenance and replacement program, to keep our deputies on the road.

* I’ll work to get control over the administrative issues plaguing the department and jail, and increase training for all personnel.

* I’ll be a very accessible Sheriff that hears your questions and concerns, and takes action.

We can do it, but I need your help! I’m asking YOU for your VOTE!

I don’t get on my social media accounts as much as I used to, but when I saw your election campaign it really caught my eye! It struck a cord because I couldn’t be more proud for your county! I am a full time Sheriff’s Deputy and I know how much a professional and strong leader can make a Sheriff’s Office a truly wonderful protector and resource for your citizens! Over my career, I have been extremely fortunate and have really tried to make a difference. Over the years, I still can’t forget our academy days together because without those days and you specifically, I wouldn’t be able to be the proactive community focused Officer I am today! It was you, Tom, that led our academy class! It was you, Tom, who pushed me mentally and physically when I had to retake my PT test! It was you, Tom, that every academy day, showed up squared away and strived to always be the best! So in closing it is you who I owe a portion of my success too, and it is YOU I would be voting for, because I know you will truly put everything into the job!

Recommendation Letter from Jason Burgess, Assistant Fire Chief, Chrisman Fire Dept.

I want to take an opportunity to tell you all about a great person who I personally feel would be an amazing sheriff for our community. I have been around Tom Dolan for many years as a student in his taekwondo classes in my high school years, as friend in his fitness center, and also as a Firefighter.

His willingness and determination to help anyone looking for or needing help is beyond compare. He’s always wanting to learn to make himself a better person, a more helpful person and whatever he can to make the community a safer better place for us, our kids and our families.

He truly wants nothing but the best for the sheriff’s department and its deputy’s. Their safety and accessibility for the best equipment is paramount to him. Because if they aren’t safe and have good safe equipment they can’t do their jobs effectively to keep us safe.

One of the things that really sticks out in my mind and my observational opinion is he isn’t doing this for a paycheck. He is doing this for us, the people. We have a choice this election.

We can stick with the same results as was pointed out by our current sheriff’s opening remarks in the last debate or we can go with some one who is striving to to do better for us and for the deputies.

These are just a few of my opinions on why I support Tom Dolan for sheriff.
